Project Overview

EGI planned strategic review to modernise the organisation of a TSO and enhance agility in response to evolving energy sector dynamics. EGI was mandated to perform a preliminary internal and external assessment and provide recommendations on priority focus areas and next steps.

The objective was to support the Executive Committee in identifying strategic improvement areas based on peer experience and sector trends and, where relevant, at regional and European level.

Scope of Services Provided

1. External Strategic Analysis

• Assessment of major energy sector trends impacting the country and the wider region
• Identification of key threats and opportunities affecting the electricity sector
• Executive interviews to capture management perspectives on short- and long-term developments
• Evaluation of sector evolution scenarios and their implications for the TSOs

2. Internal Organisational Assessment

• High-level review and challenge of existing organisational structure, processes and operating model
• Assessment of capabilities across core domains: market, system operation, system development and asset management
• Review of skills, competencies, systems and tools required to address future challenges
• Gap analysis between current capabilities and target operating model benchmarks (leveraging experience from Elia Group entities)

3. Strategic Recommendations

• Identification of priority focus areas
• Definition of actionable next steps to strengthen organisational preparedness
• Recommendations to support the evolution towards a more agile and future-ready operating model

Project Outcome

The assessment provided the Executive Management with a structured view of external sector developments and internal readiness. It clarified strategic priorities, highlighted capability gaps and strengths, and established a clear foundation for the subsequent strategic planning process, supporting their ambition to modernise and enhance organisational agility.
