EGI supported the enhanced integration of variable renewable energy into the transmission system by identifying key challenges and proposing targeted actions to enable successful grid integration. The team drafted recommended updates to the Grid Code, focusing on strengthening frequency control and fault-ride-through requirements to improve overall system stability. In addition, EGI evaluated the existing renewable energy forecasting framework and provided targeted recommendations to improve accuracy, ensure reliable system operation, and minimise reserve generation costs.
