Project Scope:
Strategic and technical advisory support for the development of a next-generation power system designed to operate on 100% renewable energy. The assignment supported a cross-functional program covering market design, technical architecture, regulation, digital & AI integration, customer experience, organizational setup, and strategic oversight.
The project aimed to structure governance, assess design maturity, and consolidate a holistic and optimized Functional Grid Design aligned with ambitious sustainability, affordability, and reliability objectives.
Key Responsibilities & Achievements
1. Governance Framework Development
- Identified and mapped all internal and external stakeholders involved in grid design and decision-making.
- Developed a structured technical decision-making framework to support transparent and justified design choices.
- Defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to evaluate system performance during design, build-up, and operational phases.
- Structured governance processes to ensure alignment across technical, regulatory, market, and digital workstreams.
2. Status Quo & Gap Analysis
- Collected and conducted techno-economic assessment of technical documentation from OEMs and cross-functional project teams (engineering, smart grid, regulation, market design, DSO grid design, etc.).
- Analyzed available design documentation and identified gaps relative to an optimized first Functional Grid Design.
- Evaluated CAPEX and OPEX implications of alternative technical configurations.
- Proposed targeted initiatives to efficiently close identified technical and governance gaps.
- Facilitated and steered technical alignment discussions across multidisciplinary teams.
3. Functional Design Consolidation
- Elaborated executive-level presentations summarizing selected design options, decision criteria, and trade-offs.
- Developed detailed technical position papers documenting functional design decisions and system architecture rationale.
- Structured recommendations ensuring long-term scalability, cost-efficiency, and security of supply.
Outcome
Delivered a structured governance framework, techno-economic assessment, and consolidated Functional Grid Design documentation. The project enhanced cross-program alignment, strengthened technical decision justification, and supported the realization of a resilient, fully renewable-based energy system architecture.
