Project Overview

A tailored asset management business simulation was developed in the form of an interactive board game replicating the operational and financial behaviour of transmission grid assets. Participants were required to make investment and maintenance decisions under constrained budgets to maximise performance against reliability, risk and financial targets.

The simulation reflected real transmission utility challenges and was complemented by dedicated presentations and training sessions to anchor the concepts in the client’s operational reality.

Scope of Services Provided

• Development of a customised, team-based asset management board game with multi-round decision cycles
• Modelling of asset ageing, failure risk, maintenance strategies and budget constraints
• Facilitation of simulation sessions to kick-off activities of the newly formed asset management team
• Delivery of focused training sessions on asset maintenance and replacement strategies, risk management, condition monitoring, spare parts management, KPIs and performance targets

Project Outcome

The program strengthened the asset management team’s decision-making capabilities by translating theoretical principles into practical, risk-based investment and maintenance choices. It enhanced organisational alignment, improved understanding of lifecycle trade-offs, and accelerated the maturity of asset management practices within the transmission utility.
