Monitoring System
The technical objective of this project is to establish a control and monitoring system for all relevant subsystems of a 380 kV cable connection. In addition, underground cable joint structures were equipped with passive sensors to monitor hatch status and internal water conditions. The overall objective was to ensure full visibility of signals and measurement data within the Transmission Control Center.
The scope covered the full project lifecycle, from concept development to procurement and system integration. Key activities included:
Establishment and coordination of the project team
Review of the existing monitoring system, including technical specifications and schematics
Collection and consolidation of operational and technical requirements
Development of the concept design for the control and monitoring system
Preparation of technical specifications for sensors and analysis units for cable joint structures
Creation of a structured project schedule aligned with applicable project management standards
Ongoing coordination with project stakeholders, operational management, and asset owners
Organisation and execution of regular project meetings
On-site technical clarifications with potential suppliers and participation in contractor negotiations
Development of a data model within the internal object-oriented information system
Establishment of the communication infrastructure to enable signal transmission to the Transmission Control Center
Procurement of monitoring and control equipment in line with framework agreements and technical guidelines
The project ensured structured implementation, technical compliance, and seamless integration of monitoring data into central grid operations.
