Project Scope:
Advisory support for designing a connection reform process to manage connection requests from load and generation (excluding RES or KraftNAV), leveraging international best practices to inform process improvements for 2025 implementation.
Key Responsibilities & Achievements:
Conducted comparative studies of international TSOs, including MISO, PJM, SPP (US) and UK regions, focusing on connection process design.
Assessed key aspects of regional processes, including financial securities, information transparency and platform design, and grid hosting capacity visibility.
Evaluated timing of batch processing, cluster study processes, application milestones, and documentation requirements.
Presented Belgium’s flexibility agreement tools (GFlex, B/L.Flex) as mechanisms to manage network congestion.
Conducted strategic review of the revised process and provided evidence-based recommendations to support Board-level presentations.
Outcome:
Delivered a robust, internationally benchmarked connection reform framework, providing actionable recommendations and supporting tools to streamline application processes and enhance grid planning efficiency.
