Project Scope:
Support to a national transmission system operator in implementing energy transition measures, focusing on the integration of variable renewable energy sources (vRES) into the grid, capacity building, and strategic system transformation.

Key Responsibilities & Achievements:

  • Analyzed the current grid situation, assessing preparedness for high vRES penetration and mapping key integration challenges.

  • Presented lessons learned from two decades of RES integration in a major European grid from a TSO perspective, providing actionable insights.

  • Conducted five expert workshops covering:

    • Strategic Grid Development & TSO Positioning

    • System Transformation & Planning

    • Market Design & Flexibility

    • Grid and System Operation

    • Regulation & Finance

  • Identified implementation gaps and formulated recommendations to enhance the TSO’s readiness for achieving energy transition targets.

  • Synthesized findings into a gap analysis report, highlighting optimization opportunities for grid operations and system planning.

Outcome:
Delivered a comprehensive framework for RES integration, strengthening strategic planning, operational readiness, and capacity to implement national energy transition objectives.
